Q: How can I get a copy of my certificate of completion for NIMS or IS Courses?

NIMS and IS courses are managed and delivered by the Emergency Management Institute (EMI). Please contact EMI at https://training.fema.gov/contactus/ to process your request.You can contact the Independent Study Program’s Customer Support Center at (301) 447-1200 or independent.study@fema.dhs.gov. One of their Customer Support Representatives will look up your student record, verify your course completion and issue you a certificate via email.If you are emailing your request to independent.study@fema.dhs.gov, please provide your full name and mailing address.

Q: How do I attend, schedule, or request training?

FEMA’s National Training and Education Division (NTED) does not schedule or facilitate training. Please visit our catalogs, available on our homepage, to determine which courses you would like to attend/host. Once you have determined which courses you are interested in, please contact the State Administrative Agency Training Point of Contact (SAA/TPOC) for your state to coordinate class facilitation.A list of SAAs can be found here

Q: How do I become a trainer or first responder?

NTED does not certify individuals who have an interest in becoming first reposnders.Please contact your local emergency management office or emergency response departments (fire, police, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), etc) to determine requirements and find out about volunteer opportunities.

First Responder Training User Account

Q: I forgot my password and when I try to reset it I get an email stating that my account is disabled. How can I get assistance with my account?
